Hi, I'm Valerie. —
Photography may be my profession, but people are what keep me inspired. I love getting to know the individuals behind the camera — whether that’s a couple on their wedding day, an artist preparing for a performance, or someone who swears they’re awkward in photos. I strive to make the photography experience feel approachable, grounded, and genuinely comfortable, so people can see their true selves in the images we make together.
Having been behind a camera since early high school, I’ve developed a strong sense of intuition that allows me to consistently create imagery that feels natural, honest, and well-crafted. I love that balance of experience and instinct — knowing when to direct, when to step back, and when I’m about to capture something special. Those ‘wow’ moments behind the camera are what I live for, especially when they reflect someone’s true nature in the perfect circumstances.
Outside of photography, my life revolves around food, competitive softball, queer community, and spending time with the people I love. You’ll usually find me exploring Madison with my partner Sabrina, checking out a new bar or restaurant, or grabbing a beer with friends. As a proud transgender photographer, creating an inclusive and affirming experience for every client is one of the most important parts of my work. My goal is simple: to help people feel comfortable enough to be themselves, and to create photographs that reflect exactly that.
I hope you’ll consider getting in touch so we can make something great together :)
